Ohio Speaker of the House Jon Husted

This spring, an Ohio lawmaker introduced legislation to ban gays and lesbians from adopting children.  Fortunately, House Bill 515 wasn’t brought up for a vote because House Speaker Jon Husted (R-Kettering) stood up to the voices of intolerance in his own party and stopped the legislation.  Husted, himself adopted as a child, said, “I know how many children never get adopted.  They need people to love them and to nurture them.  I don’t want to restrict those opportunities, I want to expand them.”
