Wyoming State Senator Cale Case
The Wyoming State Senate recently passed legislation that would ban the state from recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other states or countries where they are legal. One of the few Republicans to vote against the measure was State Senator Cale Case (R-Lander). Case said that Wyoming already has a poor reputation for its treatment of gays as a result of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard. "I'm a religious man; I believe in God almighty," said Case. "I believe there has to be a separation between the laws of this state and what religious people believe."
