BONO-MACK & CAMPBELL PART OF FIRST WAVE OF ENDORSEMENTS HIGHLIGHTING COMMITMENT TO FREEDOM & LIBERTY FOR ALL AMERICANS
(Los Angeles, CA) – The Board of Directors of Log Cabin Republicans – the nation’s oldest and largest conservative LGBT advocacy and Republican volunteer organization released its first wave of federal candidate endorsements for the upcoming 2010 elections, including two outstanding candidates in California.
Mary Bono Mack – 45th Congressional District
Log Cabin Republicans has consistently endorsed her in past years, as she has a strong record of supporting Log Cabin Republicans-endorsed positions, such as hate crimes prevention legislation, Employment Non-Discrimination legislation, and the Ryan White CARE Act. She has a strong, open-door relationship with Log Cabin staff and has been a consistent ally of our chapter in the Palm Springs-Riverside area of California.
Tom Campbell – US Senate
Tom Campbell has been supportive of Log Cabin’s efforts in California from his early days serving in the House of Representatives. He has routinely worked with a broad coalition of leaders as an expert on budget and fiscal issues. In the 2008 election, he signed on with dozens of other Republican elected officials and leaders going on the record opposing Proposition 8, and supporting the efforts of Log Cabin Republicans own “Republicans Against Prop 8” campaign.
Log Cabin Republicans National Board Chairman Terry W. Hamilton, a resident of Pasadena, CA, commented that “Log Cabin is proud to support these two individuals in particular who have been consistent champions of liberty, equality and freedom for all Americans, regardless of sexual orientation. Their courage and conviction should be a model for all Republicans in the election cycle as we work to take back the House and Senate.”
Leonard M. Lanzi, Chairman of the California Log Cabin Republicans continued, saying that “Log Cabin is thankful for the support of our allies in the Republican Party, and we look forward to a spirited race as we support those candidates who have supported equal rights for all Americans. Our chapters across the state will spend the months ahead working to spread the message in the LGBT community that the Republican Party does provide pro-LGBT alternatives to the rampant tax-and-spend liberalism in Washington, and will work with other Republican candidates demonstrating that a truly inclusive campaign strategy is a path to victory in June and November.”
California statewide candidate endorsements will follow later in the month of April.
