Gay & Lesbian Families
Issue: Gay & Lesbian Families
Respecting All Families: 134,000 children are waiting to be adopted in this country. Millions more wait to be adopted in other countries. Same-sex couples who are ready for parenting should be allowed to adopt these children if they meet all other qualifications for adopting.
Protecting Gay and Lesbian Families: Gay and lesbian families deserve and need the same rights, benefits and responsibilities as all other American families.
The Case for Civil Marriage Equality: Civil marriage equality will benefit society by encouraging stable relationships, strengthening the institution of marriage and providing important protection for gay and lesbian families.
The Death Tax Should be Repealed: The death tax harms the American economy, hurts small businesses, and costs this country thousands of jobs every year. This unpopular tax also discriminates against gay and lesbian couples.
Immigration Laws Need Reform to Protect Gay & Lesbian Families: The Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) being considered in Congress would eliminate the double standard that currently exists in U.S.immigration laws. UAFA would provide gay and lesbian couples with the same residency benefit that heterosexual couples already receive.
The International Experience with Civil Marriage Equality: Some on the far right claim that the experiences with same-sex marriage in the international community prove that same-sex marriage destroys the institution of marriage. This claim, however, is unsupported by the facts.
Articles and Analysis: This section provides a variety of information and articles about the effort to provide basic protections for gay and lesiban families.
Other Resources: Many organizations are working to educate people about the importance of providing basic fairness for all American families.
